NEW YORK, NY, April 18, 2019 – Jaguar USA, based in Mahwah, New Jersey, was the recipient of the top three World Car Awards at the New York International Auto Show this year for the same model, the Jaguar I-PACE.

Entirely electric and in the SUV category, the Jaguar I-PACE received the awards for World Car of the Year, Design of the Year, and Green Car of the Year. It is unprecedented for one manufacturer to receive three World Car Awards for one car model at the New York Auto Show.

“At Jaguar Land Rover, we love to be on the cutting edge of technology,” said Tim Philippo, Product Specialist at Jaguar Land Rover, N.A., “whether we’re racing in Formula-E, or winning World Car Design, World Green Car, and World Car of the Year with the I-PACE,” he said. “We really see a strong future for electric with our brands.”

“Electric is really going to be part of our future going forward”

Jaguar’s focus on electric vehicle technology began in 2010, with the debut of the C-X75 concept car, which was never produced for the consumer market, but was used for research and development, and was later featured in the 2015 James Bond film, Spectre, starring Daniel Craig.

“Electric is really going to be part of our future going forward,” said Philippo. “We see the benefits of it–the benefits to the brand, also the benefits to the performance, and to the customers, but also the benefits for the environment.”
