Book Review by: Deekay Daulat

In this book is the inspiring story of a determined and gutsy Latina entrepreneur who began with scant monetary resources and became a multimillionaire in a short period of time.

But she had other assets which are typically not thought of as resources but are critical influences in the wealth-building process: a supportive, closely-knit family with a strong set of values, close friends who believed in her determination to succeed, and personal qualities (such as passion and the eagerness to learn, for example) that are so crucial in fulfilling dreams.

This story sort of begins at the climax, and traces back the steps that led to that moment. Foot Petals, a company that Tina Aldatz began and built up over the years, is bought by a large shoe manufacturer for $14 million.

We will not relate to you any of the details of this story or even provide you with a broad brush of it, because no review, especially of a series of narratives story, can provide you the pleasurable experience of “seeing” how a dream becomes a reality, as well as an actual reading of the entire story. But this much we will tell you: this is no ordinary rags-to-riches tale, and it is well worth the read.

With her success as evidence, Tina Aldatz believes fervently in the power of dreams to transform lives, not just for themselves but for others.

She writes in her Introduction to the book: “It is my hope that the following pages will any and every person reading this book to believe in the power of their dreams. I cannot express enough how one must not be deterred by the hand that life deals to them, as even the most promising spread still has the potential of winning.

She shares with readers her six essentials for business success, which consist of three M’s or business practices – money, marketing, and management, and three R’s – Reputation, Resourcefulness, and Resilience.

Tina Aldatz made her mark as a self-starting entrepreneur and founder of Foot Petals Inc., the revolutionary line of designer insole cushions for women’s high heels. Tina severely burned her feet after accidentally stepping on buried hot coals at the beach.

From her foot injury, Tina created Foot Petals to help fill a gap in the market for women’s high-heeled foot support. The firm achieved multi-million dollars in revenues, and got recognition as one of the 500 fastest growing companies in America.

Tina has been featured in the business magazine Forbes as ‘an entrepreneur to watch’ and was chosen the 2011 National Latina Business Women Association’s  Business Woman of the Year.  In that same year, her company started, through the Two Ten Foundation, a scholarship endowment fund for women in the footwear industry.

She is currently the CEO of Savvy Traveler, a lifestyle, health and wellness company for on-the-consumers and travelers, geared to making their lives cleaner and more convenient.
