Western Union, the 160-year-old iconic money transfer firm, is hosting its American Dream sweepstakes to highlight the fact that many immigrants in the United States are working to achieve their aspirations, often while staying connected with and helping their family members and loved ones around the world.

Southeast Asian Community:  Achieving the American Dream

One of the top examples of people achieving the American Dream is U.S. residents of Southeast Asian heritage. The the 2010 Census of the country revealed that members of this immigrant population have the highest income and net worth, the highest level of educational attainment, the largest number of business owners in proportion to their population, and the most widespread access and exposure to the Internet among all immigrant communities.

These Census characteristics of the South Asian community in the United States are contributing factors  to their success in making the American Dream a reality for themselves.

Western Union:  Promotion and Company

Western Union’s American Dream campaign is aimed at helping more people realize the same cherished goals that so many Southeast Asian Americans and others are achieving. The year-long campaign, which kicked off in February this year, is offering over $182,500 in cash prizes to be redeemed for iconic American Dream prizes:  down payment for a house, tuition monies, family meals and more.

The American Dream promotion can be found on Facebook, Twitter and other websites. The highlight, however, is the American Dream video shown below, featuring the responses of everyday Americans from around the country, asking if they believe in the American Dream.

“Following the American Dream is a cherished aspiration that Western Union wants to help flourish” said Nidhi Gupta, Western Union’s senior marketing manager for the Americas. “The Western Union.com American Dream Sweepstakes is one way we can show our customers that we respect and support their hopes and family values. By awarding cash prizes that can be used for a down payment on a home, college tuition, family meals and more, Western Union hopes to be a part of helping some American Dreams come true.”

The sweepstakes and promotional campaign is designed to encourage more people to use Western Union’s money transfer services. In 2013 alone the company processed over $82 billion consumer money transfers through about 500,000 Western Union agent locations across some 200 countries and territories, including India and neighboring nations.
